Volunteers and Supporters Welcome

To get the Millpond project off the ground, we have hired a number of highly-skilled (and expensive) professionals including: biologists, ecologists, hydrologists, dam safety experts, engineers and planners. Plus we engaged an internationally-renowned Canadian Artist, the late Noel Harding, who led the art components of the master plan shortly prior to his untimely passing. The baton has now been passed to another high-profile Canadian public artist - Bill Pechet. We still need funding to implement Noel's and Bill's vision.

The Millpond committee can always use extra volunteers for fundraising events or to seek sponsorships on our behalf. Or if you have other particular skills to offer, please get in touch.

If you don't have a lot of extra time but would like to help out financially, you can contribute directly towards the planning of the project. For more information, please contact Jeremy Grant at jeremy@seatongroup.com or call 519-766-1440.

Sponsors and Supporters:

Thank you to the following organizations for their support of this project.

The Alton Millpond Hockey Classic Fundraiser

The Alton Millpond Hockey Classic is a fundraiser in support of the Alton Millpond Rehabilitation Project. Started in 2010, this community-based event has rapidly become a well-known and well-loved local winter tradition.

At its core, this event is about hockey, community and the environment. Outdoor hockey is a quintessentially Canadian winter activity, and playing on a millpond is about as great a hockey experience as one can get. Over the course of the Classic, the games have raised more than $80,000 for the project. Needless to say, one of the project's design criteria is to maintain (and indeed expand) an area for a natural ice rink.
